Clutch Inc.
Clutch is responsible for content management and site maintenance of several major government web sites. In 2003, Clutch significantly reduced the bandwidth requirements of the one of its client’s web sites by converting all HTML table-based layout to XHTML/CSS. The process of separating content from design is a key step in reducing individual page sizes and optimizing for accessibility. A style guide was developed to maintain visual and technical consistency across the entire site. Our team works closely with government personnel to maintain over 40GB of content on web sites that generate over 100 million hits a month.
Clutch has also developed a new section of a popular government web site specifically for kids, targeting ages pre-school through grade 3 to help market their message. The site features custom illustration and character design as well as flash game development. Kids find the interactive games not only entertaining but also educational.
Clutch developed a web application within a government web site that controls online ordering and distribution of publications. Clutch implemented the system into the web site with a shopping cart interface complete with ’rules’ based ordering to prevent misuse. The system includes web-based back-end administration that manages customer and order data. It also provides full reporting and automated workflow for government personnel to process publication orders right down to the output of mailing labels. Since its implementation, the publications orders have increased approximately 30% every year.
Clutch succeeded in re-engineering a legacy application into one of the key tools used by government procurement employees today. The system is a web-based application that is used to request, process and maintain orders across an entire agency. The tool is essential in the process of procuring services and equipment during emergencies. The tool provides accountability and usage trends to help the agency prepare for future needs.
Clutch re-engineered business processes for the ordering of telecommunications equipment and services within a large federal government agency by taking an existing paper-based process and completely automating it. The result – a streamlined ordering process which cut order delivery time in half while increasing customer satisfaction.
Clutch architected and implemented the collection of servers that make up one of our clients’ web farms, providing all of the necessary equipment and support services to support the web sites and their applications. Since its implementation in 1999, the uptime rate has been over 99% while traffic has increased to over half-a-million hits a day.
